3Black Ice Hockey and Sports Hall of Fame
The Black Ice Society hosts a Hall of Fame exhibit at the Black Cultural Center for Nova Scotia. The exhibit features the accomplishments of Black athletes from many sports disciplines, who have contributed to excellence in sport. The Black Ice Society holds induction ceremonies every few years where we recognize new inductees.
Recent inductees include: Boxer Kirk Johnson, and Football player Dwayne Provo. The last sports induction was held on Friday, March 28, 2014, at the Black Cultural Centre. At that time, Julie Barton, Table Tennis; Kirk Johnson, Boxing; Dwayne Provo, Football, and Vincent "Manny" McIntyre, New Brunswick, who played on the first all-black Ice Hockey line with the Carnegie Brothers, were inducted.
